On 12 March we will be holding the second in a series of evening Café Conversations at Marmions in the Wynd in Melrose, starting promptly at 7pm (bar open from 6:30pm).
After our lively chat about how we can individually and collectively tackle climate change in February, we’re delighted to be back for more discussion and networking.

The second event in our series will focus on local food production, with the theme “How can we feed ourselves in the Borders without it costing the earth?”
As with our first conversation on climate change, there will be no powerpoint and no speeches. The focus will be on where we as individuals and local communities can play a role. The evening will start with a facilitated conversation that will last just over an hour. After that, the room and bar will then remain open to allow you to mingle, dive more deeply into something that caught your attention earlier, make new friends.
If you missed our first event in February, you can find out what to expect by reading the writeup.
Approx. timings:
18:30-19:00 – Bar open
19:00-20:00 – Facilitated conversation (format will vary depending on numbers but we aim to give everyone a chance to contribute if they feel comfortable doing so)
20:00-21:00 – Bar open for free social time and an opportunity to continue discussions.
21:00 – Event closes
Location
The event will take place in the function room at Marmions in Melrose – if you haven’t visited before, The Wynd is the path to the right of Marmions on Bucchleuch St, and then the function room is through the door to your left at the bend in the path. The Wynd can also be accessed through the vennel to the right of Holmes of Melrose from High Street. We’ll have signs out on the night!
Why we’re holding café conversations
Our main aim is to create a space for people to discuss their local priorities around sustainability. Your thoughts and suggestions through this series of conversations will also give us at A Greener Melrose ideas about how we can assist our community better in the future. We hope to bring the community together later in Spring for an opportunity to reflect on conversations and to collaborate on setting priorities and identifying actions.
We hope to see you on 12 March for an evening of company, conversation, and collaboration!
