Our structure

Members, Friends and Volunteers

Members.

Membership is open to anyone in TD6 and neighbouring areas in the central Borders by completing a short form (will be here). Members are the heart of the organisation and can choose the Trustees, join or form Action groups, and generally give the organisation its direction. Membership is free and members are volunteers; no-one is paid.

Friends.

Friends receive information via email and may or may not join in the organisation’s activities. Unlike Members, Friends have no rights or responsibilities.

Volunteers.

Many people help voluntarily without being a Member or a Friend. Various other organisations also bring their members to help us. All are welcome.

Action groups

Groups of members form Action groups each with specific aims. These groups are semi-autonomous, organising themselves to achieve their aims as best it suits them. Any group of members can form an Action group providing the aims fit those of the organisation as described in the constitution.

The Board

As a charity, the regulator (OSCR) requires us to meet certain criteria, including having no less than three Trustees forming a Board. Members choose the Trustees at the AGM whose role is to ensure that OSCR’s criteria are met and that the organisation abides by it’s constitution.
